Sometimes you pick up
a guitar that feels alive, almost as if every molecule
in the instrument is working together to make that sweet
sound. This describes the new Godin Flat Five. They strive
to make sure that every Godin guitar is acoustically responsive
and the Flat Five exceeds their already high standards. Before
you even plug in the Flat Five, the first chord
tells you that you're in for something special. Certainly the
fact that the Flat Five is a hollow body instrument
accounts for some of this responsiveness, but there is more
to the story than that. The body consists of two
chambers on each side of a multi-channel center block. All
of the body components are made from solid wood, and
completed with a solid flame maple top. The mahogany neck
is shaped according to 2002 LGX specifications but in a
short scale version, with a 24-fret fingerboard. The shorter scale
allows for a light touch and adds a little extra
warmth to the sound. The Godin humbuckers offer exceptional dynamics
and 5-way switching that taps every bit of their considerable
potential. Blues, Jazz and rock players will feel right at
home with the Flat Five. The 'X'
version of the Flat Five adds an acoustic voice to
thealready sonically powerfulstandard Flat Five. The acoustic sound is produced
with the help of the six L.R. BaggsTM transducers that
replace the saddles in the standard bridge. The signal from
the saddle transducers runs. Comes complete with custom Godin gig
bag.
